We are a boots on the ground organization
and work alongside our clients to create the best outcome for all involved. We realize that many of the most vulnerable people facing homelessness and housing insecurity can not always make it to the places with the most resources safely. Shelters can be dangerous and resource centers can be overcrowded. So whenever possible, we come to them or collaborate with other organizations that have established these personal connections. In all of our work, we rely on the following three things...
1. Connection
We set out to find and connect with the givers in the communities we serve. Givers are individuals, families or other human services organizations that lead by example, make the most of the opportunities given them and look after their communities despite their own challenging circumstances. With their insight, we assess their needs and work alongside them to give them the hand up they need. We believe that serving and supporting the givers can exponentiate our efforts by reaching everyone in the givers circle and beyond.
2. Compassion
Once we’ve earned trust and connection in the communities we serve, a new community is formed. The bonds made and stories shared break the old stigma of homelessness. Sharing these collective experiences on our social media platforms and through short films allow us to educate, motivate and empower our supporters to be the best advocates they can be for our clients.
3. Vital Supplies
Since our very first distribution, we have relied on our clients to tell us exactly what they need the most. These items are most often lifesavers and will be relied up heavily so quality is key. We first look to the surplus in our own communities. We collect clean and gently used items and then collect from our sponsors. We supplement the rest by purchasing them from businesses that align with our values. Whenever possible we use sustainable supplies and are always striving to improve the clothing and supplies we distribute.
