In May 2016 Spread the Love reached out to Jason and Steph Charger, residents of the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation, to learn what the people in their community needed the most. We then went to work in our own community collecting donations of blankets, supplies, household items, clothing, shoes, baby necessities, toiletries and food to fill three enormous boxes. Although we prefer to distribute our donations personally, there were time restrictions and few volunteers to make the 4 day trip. Our local UPS donated shipping costs and we were able to send our first care packages.
On the other end, Jason and Steph were able to distribute the food and supplies to the neediest in their community and ended the busy day by preparing and serving a group dinner. We are looking forward to a proper visit next time we collaborate with Jason and Steph and the people of their Reservation.
